There's nothing like high temps and humidity to turn your impeccably applied makeup into a melted mess by 12 p.m. But greasy T-zones and smudged mascaras don't have to be a fact of (summer) life. With these clever tips and summer-proof products, you'll be sure to look fresh and pretty all day!
Nix the sweat
Perspiration breaks down makeup -- prevent that by prepping your T-zone with a light antiperspirant wipe (try
DERMAdoctor MEDeTATE, a handy wipe that eliminates sweat). Sweep along your forehead, nose and chin -- the first areas of your face that begin to perspire.
Prime first
Use an allover lightweight primer to give your makeup a layer to grip. It also keeps oil and sweat from breaking through and mussing your makeup. Prep on your lids too, to prevent eyeshadow from creasing.
Go sheer
Look for a lightweight tinted moisturizer or foundation with SPF and apply in thin layers to minimize caking when your skin gets moist. Top cheeks with a sheer layer of gel blush. Lightly dust translucent powder all over your face to set your makeup and keep it looking fresh.
Try water-resistant
Say goodbye to racoon eyes! Keep your eye makeup from running by choosing budge-proof formulas, such as smudge-resistant mascara (try Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells Mascara which lengthens, plumps and regenerates lashes on application) and waterproof eyeliner.
Set with a mist
Finish with a few spritzes of a makeup-setting spray (try
Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray), which locks in all the makeup and fight against melting and smudging.
