Make Over Your Makeup BagSmart and simple advice on updating your foundation, lipstick, mascara and more.
| | 3 / 5 Wash your makeup brushes
Because brushes and sponges are used on your face, the cleaner they are, the better. To prevent a buildup of product, clean your foundation and concealer brushes at least once a week, and shadow brushes at least twice a month.
"The best and most thorough method for cleaning your makeup brushes requires only water and either a gentle soap or brush cleanser," advises makeup artist Bobbi Brown.
Just place a drop of cleanser (try Bobbi's Conditioning Brush Cleanser) in your palm, wet the bristles and gently massage the bristle tips. After rinsing, squeeze out the excess moisture and let the brush dry.
